Spring Treats

There's lots happening over the coming months

The nights are starting to get longer, the weather is (hopefully) starting to get warmer and spring is just around the corner.

And in spring, just like at any other time of the year, there is plenty going on in Southern Wales to keep you occupied

Titanic Exhibition
Floral Afternoon Tea at the Angel Hotel
Olympic Torch Relay

Titanic Exhibition
6 April - 31 December
Winding
House Museum, New Tredegar
To mark the centenary of the sinking of the famous trans-Atlantic liner, South Wales' little known links with the Titanic are commemorated at the winding house during 2012.

Entitled The Titanic, the Mill and the Signal: Artie Moore and Titanic's SOS. The exhibition commemorates Artie Moore from nearby Gelligroes Mill who received the ship's SOS call on his home-made radio receiver on the night of 14th/15th April, 1912. He was one of the first people in the world to learn of the ship's fate.

Olympic Torch Relay
25-26 May
Various Locations
With the London 2012 Olympics coming ever nearer, the famous torch relay will snake its way across the country bringing the games to within 10 miles of 95% of the population. And on the 25 and 26 of May it comes to Southern Wales.

The first leg will see the flame arrive in Monmouth before heading across to Abergavenny, the World Heritage Site at Blaenavon before making its way down the valley to Newport before moving on to Cardiff.

The following day starts in the capital and heads towards Caerphilly and Merthyr Tydfil before making its way down the Ogmore Valley to Bridgend and on towards Neath and Swansea.

Keep an eye on the Olympic Torch website for exact details of the route and the celebrations along the way.

These are just a couple of the main events we've got going on. You can find a full list here
